<\/a><\/p>\nTyler Herro is coming home.<\/p>\n
After spending seven seasons with the Miami Heat, the Whitnall High School graduate is returning to Wisconsin after being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in one of the biggest moves in franchise history.<\/p>\n
In an exclusive interview with WISN 12 Sports, Herro’s parents, Jen and Chris, said the news still feels surreal.<\/p>\n
“I ended up falling asleep, and Chris woke me up in the middle of the night to share the good news,” Jen Herro said. “I still feel like I’m in awe. It’s unbelievable. For him to come back to Milwaukee and play for his hometown NBA team is just a dream. It’s insane.”<\/p>\n
The trade means the Herro family will no longer have to travel across the country to watch Tyler play.<\/p>\n
“It’s going to be so fun to be able to stay at home and see games,” Jen said.<\/p>\n
For Chris Herro, the deal is especially meaningful because of Tyler’s long tenure in Miami.<\/p>\n
“He’s been there for seven years,” Chris said. “Pat Riley never said he’d move him unless it was for a top-tier player. In my mind, it doesn’t get much bigger. Giannis is unbelievable. You should, in a sense, feel honored. I think the Bucks wanted Tyler just as much as Miami wanted Giannis.”<\/p>\n
The move also reunites Herro with the team he rooted for growing up.<\/p>\n
“He definitely was a Bucks fan,” Chris said. “He went to a lot of games.”<\/p>\n
That childhood connection even influenced the jersey number Tyler wore throughout his basketball career.<\/p>\n
“He’s wearing No. 42 because Charlie Bell used to come over to our house when Tyler was younger,” Chris said. “That’s how he came up with his number.”<\/p>\n
The family has already gotten a glimpse of Herro in his new Bucks uniform.<\/p>\n
“It does look pretty good,” Chris said with a smile.<\/p>\n
Now, they’re hoping the hometown reunion ends with another championship banner in Milwaukee.<\/p>\n
