After shipping back up to Boston Tuesday for the first of four sold-out nights at Fenway Park, Noah Kahan took some time to give back to the Boston community.

On Wednesday, Kahan helped launch Boston Common Golf’s new youth impact program, Common Ground, which will increase access to the game of golf for children across Boston. Kahan also hosted a youth golf clinic at the launch with professional golfer Keegan Bradley, which took place at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park.

“I grew up in a really nice upper-middle-class town, and I always saw golf as a sport for rich people. And I moved to Boston… and realized that golf is really for everybody,” Kahan said at the event. “Making golf more accessible means more kids get to discover something they might end up falling in love with like I did.”

Get Starting Point

A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday.

The New England singer, an avid golfer himself, recounted playing local courses like Watertown Fresh Pond and Newton Commonwealth. He joined Boston Common Group as an investor in 2025, and his mental health initiative Busyhead Project was also a partner in Wednesday’s launch.

“Golf is a huge part of my mental health structure,” Kahan said. “It’s one of the very few outlets where I can slow down and quiet my brain for a few hours.”

Mayor Michelle Wu was also present at Wednesday’s event, reflecting on the youth sport initiatives the city has prioritized. Through a speech dotted with Kahan puns, Wu announced that members of Youth on Course can now tee off at George Wright Golf Course for $5 throughout the summer. She also shared that Boston families will soon be able to play golf together for $25.

“For too many kids across the country, golf can seem like it’s somebody else’s game — big gates, fancy spaces, families who belong to a club, and a real gap in access,” Wu said at the event. “But here in Boston, we are determined to make sure that our young people and our families have every opportunity right at their fingertips.”

Boston Common Golf launched the New England PGA Foundation Scholarship in partnership with Bradley, awarding two high school golfers every year with $5,000 each to use towards their education. The organization also donated three golf simulators to the city.

“One of the main reasons I got involved with Boston Common Golf as a partner and ambassador is because I shared the same belief that golf should bring people together,” Kahan said. “I’m absolutely honored to be a part of this team to be a part of helping make golf more accessible to folks here in Boston and New England.”
