\u201cClap For The Wolfman\u201d by The Guess Who<\/p>\n

\u201cClap For The Wolfman\u201d by The Guess Who was released in June of 1974 and was quite a big hit in the comedy rock world. This fine little rock and roll tune appeared on the band\u2019s album, Road Food. It\u2019s a fun ode of sorts to Wolfman Jack, a famous American DJ who is also featured in the song. \u201cClap For The Wolfman\u201d peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also did quite well in Canada and a few other European countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cPinball\u201d by Brian Protheroe<\/p>\n

Remember the soft rock tune \u201cPinball\u201d? This is one of the most nostalgic songs from 1974, especially in the UK. It was recorded by Brian Protheroe, better known by Brits as the narrator of the Channel 4 dating program First Dates. \u201cPinball\u201d was apparently an autobiographical tune that Protheroe wrote while living at a friend\u2019s home. The song ended up being Protheroe\u2019s only major hit, peaking at No. 22 on the UK Singles chart. It wasn\u2019t super popular on our side of the pond in the States, but if you were young in 1974 and living in the UK, you probably know this song quite well.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re No Good\u201d by Linda Ronstadt<\/p>\n

This one is such a classic, and one of Linda Ronstadt\u2019s finest nostalgic songs from 1974. \u201cYou\u2019re No Good\u201d also happens to be a cover. The original tune was written by Clint Ballard Jr. and was first performed by Dee Dee Warwick in 1963. The song has stood the test of time and has been covered several times by multiple artist, each of which managed to hit the charts with their versions. Betty Everett and The Swinging Blue Jeans are just a couple of examples. However, Linda Ronstadt\u2019s 1974 version with a Southern rock flair became a No. 1 hit in the United States. This song was a standout addition to Ronstadt\u2019s album Heart Like A Wheel.<\/p>\n
