\n\tJ.K. Simmons<\/a> and Tom Holland<\/a> apparently never crossed paths on the sets of 2019\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man<\/a>: Far From Home and 2021\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man: No Way Home. Simmons, who played J. Jonah Jameson in both films, says he has never actually met Holland, who plays the titular Spider-Man. <\/p>\n \n\tSimmons appeared on podcast Happy Sad Confused this week to discuss his career and admitted that he has still yet to encounter his co-star. \u201cI have not met Tom Holland,\u201d Simmons acknowledged. \u201cDelightful guy, I\u2019m told.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe actor first embodied Jameson in Tobey Maguire\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man\u00a0trilogy, which kicked off with 2002\u2019s Spider-Man, directed by Sam Raimi. Simmons didn\u2019t play the role in 2012\u2019s The Amazing Spider-Man, which rebooted the franchise with Andrew Garfield<\/a> at the superhero, or its sequel. Despite rumors to the contrary, Simmons said he was never due to appear in those films. <\/p>\n \n\t \u201cThe only conversations that I was aware of were the ones that people would call my attention to on the Internet,\u201d he confirmed. \u201cMaybe this, or maybe that.\u201d He added that when the opportunity came up to do a cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home that was \u201ca complete shock and a very last-minute decision.\u201d <\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThey literally called my agent, we had a meeting the next day, and it was like a day or two later [that] I was shooting in somebody\u2019s office,\u201d he recalled. \u201cSome executive\u2019s office on the lot. Because there was no set. They were well into editing the film when they went, \u2018What if we stuck a little JJJ in here?’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\tSimmons\u2019 new series, The Westies, arrives this weekend. The actor stars as gang boss Eamon Sweeney.
