New details<\/a> suggest that the ultraexclusive event included 1,000 guests, star-studded musical performances, big-ticket prizes, and even caviar-topped chicken nuggets. It seems the power couple went all out to celebrate their love story, so what is the final price tag on the wedding of the century?\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWell, it\u2019s hard to come to an actual estimate without concrete pictures from inside of the Garden, and no official details have been released in regards to the cost of the wedding. Lindsay Landman<\/a>, a luxury event planner with more than 20 years of experience in the sector, suggests a total that lands somewhere within the range of $20 to $25 million. Estimates have not been confirmed by either Swift or Kelce. Days before their nuptials, the couple also notably donated<\/a> a generous gift of $26 million across 20 charities in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBecause of the level of stature that she has reached, the number one consideration for her with her wedding was security,\u201d says Tracy Taylor Ward, creative director and owner of luxury event planning and design firm Tracy Taylor Ward Design<\/a>. \u201cIf she wasn\u2019t at the level that she was at with her career and she could have gotten married in a place that didn\u2019t require so much security, she would\u2019ve spent less.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tYou can\u2019t put a price on safety (or on forever), but here\u2019s a breakdown of what key elements from the wedding may have cost to reach an eight-figure total.<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Venue: $600,000\u00a0to $1.2 million\t<\/p>\n

\n\tLet\u2019s start with the much-discussed venue: New York\u2019s Madison Square Garden. Everyone has been trying to figure out just how much it costs to rent out one of the most iconic arenas in the world. According to TMZ<\/a>, it is $1 million a night to rent the entire venue, but The New York Times<\/a> reports a larger range between $600,000 to $800,000, citing \u201cindustry insiders who have experience hosting events at the venue.\u201d Another source told the Times it would be \u201csomewhere between $1.2 million and $1.6 million\u201d to rent two days at the Garden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLandman estimates that renting out MSG for three or four days would amount to less than $10 million. \u201cEveryone thinks of it just as the arena, but there are many different venues and outlets within it,\u201d she said. \u201cIf you\u2019re going to do a full buyout, you have to rent the arena as well as the theaters, the restaurants, the concessions.\u201d Landman also explains that union labor factors into the cost. \u201cAll labor has to be bought out by any event and compensated by any event \u2026 even if you don\u2019t use it, you still have to pay for the labor that would have been employed if that space were engaged,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to these ballparks, Swift and Kelce could have spent around half a million to $2 million to rent the space, but that doesn\u2019t factor in the price of the permit they had to obtain from the city to shut down nearby streets. The permit would bring the cost up by about $60,000 if you ask TMZ<\/a>, or $132,000 if you ask the Times<\/a>. On Friday, July 10, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani said<\/a> that Swift had paid over $160,000 for the permit, and for the police presence patrolling the Garden.<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Dress: $100,000 to $500,000\t<\/p>\n

\n\tIt seems like the whole world is waiting for Swift to finally reveal her wedding dress. Without an actual picture of the dress and its design, it\u2019s challenging to nail down a good estimate on what it would be valued at. As a Swift representative shared with Rolling Stone, the dress was designed by Jonathan Anderson as part of Christian Dior Haute Couture \u201cin close collaboration with the bride.\u201d The design marks his \u201cfirst couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity.\u201d The luxury fashion brand showed Anderson\u2019s latest couture designs in Paris on Monday, after which a Dior spokesperson \u201cpromised all would be revealed \u2014 at some point, after Swift herself posts the first pictures on her Instagram,\u201d per the Times<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAnderson has designed two couture wedding dresses in the past, for model Ming Xi<\/a> and Brazilian influencer Elisa Zarzur<\/a>. Sources familiar with Anderson\u2019s work and the Dior brand estimate that the value of the dress could range anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000, but it\u2019s possible Swift didn\u2019t actually pay anywhere near the valued price. \u201cI could totally see how Christian Dior would want to partner with her on this major moment and might offer something as a gift or might give her a great deal because they have a close friendship and she\u2019s constantly wearing items from them,\u201d Ward says.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor context, a royal wedding <\/a>gown from 2004 racked up a $13.7 million price tag, while Serena Williams has one of the most expensive celebrity wedding gowns of all time, when she wore a Sarah Burton-designed Alexander McQueen dress and cape priced at $3.5 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Tux: $6,000 to $10,000\t<\/p>\n

\n\tJust like Swift\u2019s dress, Kelce also wore a haute couture Christian Dior look designed by Anderson. According to the Dior website<\/a>, the high end of their retail suits hit a nearly $6,000 maximum. A custom suit would be higher than that, but without definitive details of the design, it\u2019s hard to tell just how much more.<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Shoes: About $3,000\t<\/p>\n

\n\tSwift once sang, \u201cIf the shoe fits, walk it in everywhere you go\u201d and clearly lived by those words for her big day. Both the superstar and NFL star wore custom Christian Louboutins. Swift has her own history<\/a> with the brand: In 2023, for the Eras Tour, she rocked a handful of custom-made red-bottoms. Women\u2019s high heels on the brand\u2019s site retail for around $1,000 while men\u2019s dress shoes go for about $1,250. The nature of a custom-made pair ups that price, depending on the design, so let\u2019s say that they spent around $3,000 on their shoes, give or take.<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Lighting: $350,000 to $1 million\t<\/p>\n

\n\tWard estimates that the wedding lighting and production was in the \u201chigh six figures into the seven figures.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe main reason why lighting is so expensive at Madison Square Garden is because you need so much of it and there\u2019s so much equipment,\u201d she said, and echoed the labor cost that Landman brought up. Landman estimates a minimum spend of $350,000 on lighting. \u201cMy guess is just based on the space and how much you would have to do to transform it,\u201d Landman says. \u201cI\u2019d be shocked if they spent less than half a million, and that would be separate from whatever they\u2019re doing for the stage lighting,\u201d she added, referring to the musical performances that Paul McCartney<\/a> and Stevie Nicks<\/a> put on.<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Decor: $500,000 to $1 million\t<\/p>\n

\n\tBy the sounds of it, Swift and Kelce completely transformed MSG so that it could feel intimate and mimic a real-life garden \u2014 that\u2019s not an easy, or cheap, feat. Both Ward and Landman estimate the couple spent around $1 million for decor. \u201cWhen you choose a venue as vast as Madison Square Garden with as many design requirements in order to cover up the space and make it feel intimate and soft and not like a huge arena, that\u2019s where the costs come in,\u201d Ward says. Those pieces include curtains and woodworking structures, while flowers are calculated on a separate line item, according to the luxury wedding and event planners.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tNo photos of the floralscape have been released, but Landman estimates a $1 million spend on them alone. Rachel Wayne, founder of NYC-based florist Blxxm<\/a>, says, \u201cI\u2019m sure she probably spent at least $500,000 to $1 million. I would hope [she did] for it to fill a space that large.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tThe Food: About $2 million\t<\/p>\n

\n\tLast, but certainly not least, is the food. Some guests have reported that there was not a formal wedding dinner, but instead food stations that included fun hors d\u2019oeuvres like chicken nuggets topped with caviar. \u201cI would assume that she was spending anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 per person for food and beverage,\u201d Ward says, adding, \u201cBut it could have been significantly higher than that if she was bringing in specialty types of foods or flying things in from Rhode Island that were something that was close to her heart and felt significant to her.\u201d Us Weekly reported<\/a> that the couple placed a late-night pizza order for the wedding from Mama\u2019s TOO!, a local shop. If that\u2019s true, it would bring the food total up to roughly $3,000 more.<\/p>\n
