At his Peace and Love 86th birthday event in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 7, Starr discussed working with his fellow Beatle, 84, on their new song from McCartney\u2019s latest album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, it\u2019s the first time we\u2019ve ever done it like a couple \u2014 we\u2019re both singing it. I\u2019ve sang a few choruses on his tracks. He\u2019s played on my tracks. He\u2019s come over with the bass,\u201d Starr exclusively told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n
He jokingly added, \u201cIt\u2019s not like we don\u2019t know each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
Starr went on to sing McCartney\u2019s praises after collaborating again.<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved it because we were in this band together, and it\u2019s just the best band ever. And Paul, his bass playing is incredible, and he\u2019s a songwriter. I mean, I can go on forever. He\u2019s just a wonderful lad,\u201d Starr said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHome to Us,\u201d which came out on May 8, is the second single from McCartney\u2019s 20th solo studio album, which was released on May 29.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Previously, Starr played drums on McCartney\u2019s Flaming Pie in 1997, McCartney played bass on Starr\u2019s Give More Love in 2017 and he played all instruments on Starr\u2019s Rewind Forward in 2023, among other projects.<\/p>\n

Starr also released a country album,\u00a0Long Long Road, in April.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always loved country. I did a country album 50 years ago, [Beaucoups of Blues]. And for whatever reason, we sent my car to Heathrow Airport to pick him up. And he comes in and says to me, \u2018Hey, I see you like country music\u2019 \u2014 because I had a lot of country cassettes in the car,\u201d he continued. \u201c \u2018You gotta come to Nashville and make a record.\u2019 I said, \u2018I don\u2019t think so, I can\u2019t spend months in Nashville.\u2019 He said, \u2018[Bob Dylan\u2019<\/a>s]\u00a0Nashville Skyline\u00a0took two days!\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n Starr added, \u201cSo I went to Nashville and did a record in two days. We got up in the morning, talked to the songwriters and we found songs, and in the afternoon we recorded them. That was a really good experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
