{"id":759143,"date":"2026-07-12T20:45:22","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T20:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/759143\/"},"modified":"2026-07-12T20:45:22","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T20:45:22","slug":"families-learn-about-local-wildlife-at-youth-outdoor-fest-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/759143\/","title":{"rendered":"Families learn about local wildlife at Youth Outdoor Fest | Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LA CROSSE (WKBT) &#8212; Families spent Saturday outdoors learning about local wildlife with a hands-on experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hosted at Pettibone Park, Youth Outdoor Fest connected area kids with nature through interactive activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among those in attendance was the Genoa National Fish Hatchery, which gave visitors a chance to hold a live lake sturgeon and meet turtles up-close.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Organizers emphasized the importance of connecting kids with wildlife.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a ton of local organizations getting together and we just want to get kids outside so here we have a lot of outdoor activities,&#8221; said Cristina Dahl, outreach specialist with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. &#8220;Kids can learn about wildlife, even pet taxidermy wildlife. We also have archery, bow fishing, fishing&#8230; we just wanna get kids interested in those outdoor hobbies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The community has hosted the event for 16 years, with 30 vendors coming out this year to share information about wildlife conservation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u200bCOPYRIGHT 2026 BY NEWS 8 NOW\/NEWS 8000.
