This effort of course will emerge as their first without the participation of their late former guitarist\/vocalist Brent Hinds. The band and Hinds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theprp.com\/2026\/07\/08\/news\/mastodon-reflect-on-reluctantly-parting-ways-with-brent-hinds-we-really-were-coming-from-a-place-of-love\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">parted ways in early 2025<\/a>, with Hinds tragically passing away in August of last year in a motorcycle accident. Unfortunately, that split took place on unamicable terms.<\/p>\n<p>This new 12-song offering has been confirmed for an August 28th release date through the band\u2019s latest label home of Loma Vista Recordings and has just been preceded by its second single, \u201cSnakes For Dinner\u201c. A video for that new track is now streaming below and both it and the song boast a cameo from Queens Of The Stone Age nucleus Josh Homme. Longtime fans of both outfits are likely aware that Homme last guested on Mastodon\u2018s \u201cColony Of Birchmen\u201d from their 2006 album \u201cBlood Mountain\u201c, if you discount his additional bonus feature on that record.<\/p>\n<p>Mastodon themselves said of the track and the announcement of this new opus:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have all been asking for it, so we are excited to announce our new album, \u2018Marrow Deep\u2018, will be released August 28th, 2026 and we are kicking it off with a new video for our new song \u2018Snakes For Dinner\u2018, which features an appearance from our long time friend, Josh Homme.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been quite the journey making this album, and we are very happy with how it came out, we can not wait for you to hear the whole thing!
