{"id":762023,"date":"2026-07-14T08:35:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T08:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/762023\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T08:35:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T08:35:10","slug":"breaking-news-van-oord-consortium-selected-as-preferred-proponent-for-roberts-bank-terminal-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/762023\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS: Van Oord consortium\u00a0selected as preferred proponent\u00a0for Roberts Bank Terminal 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has selected\u00a0TerraMarine\u00a0as the preferred\u00a0proponent\u00a0for the landmass and wharf component of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/aecon-van-oord-768x484.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large\" alt=\"\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>photo courtesy of portvancouver.com<\/p>\n<p>According to the Port Authority, \u201cthe\u00a0TerraMarine\u00a0team\u00a0has extensive experience in collaboratively delivering major marine infrastructure projects\u00a0and\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0expertise\u00a0in\u00a0health and safety, regulatory compliance, project management,\u00a0environmental\u00a0protection,\u00a0and\u00a0community engagement.\u201d It\u00a0is\u00a0comprised\u00a0of:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FlatironDragados\u00a0Canada, Inc.\u00a0<br \/>\nVan Oord Canada Ltd.\u00a0<br \/>\nAecon Constructors, a division of Aecon Construction Group Inc.\u00a0<br \/>\nCarlson Construction Group Inc.\u00a0<br \/>\nSupported by design firm Arcadis Professional Services Canada Inc. and sub-consultants Stantec Consulting Ltd., TYPSA Inc., and Tetra Tech Canada Inc.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The construction contract\u00a0involves:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>the delivery of a marine\u00a0landmass; <\/p>\n<p>wharf structure and berth pocket; <\/p>\n<p>expanded tug basin; and\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>select\u00a0environmental mitigation and offsetting projects.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>TerraMarine will now work with the port authority, First Nations, and regulators to advance construction planning, including logistics, work planning, costs, schedule, early works and sub-contracting opportunities, including for Indigenous-owned businesses, the Port Authority said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once initial work has sufficiently advanced and following financial close, the port authority intends to award a target price design-build agreement to TerraMarine. Financial close, construction mobilization, and early works are set to occur in late 2027, with construction (land reclamation) starting in 2028.
