A wife who grabbed onto her husband\u2019s legs to stop him being sucked out<\/a> of a broken Ryanair plane window at 20,000 feet has told of the frantic bid to save him \u2013 and revealed she thought \u201cIf we die, we die together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serbian national Ljubi\u0161a Karovi\u0107, 61, was pulled toward the window when it was shattered by engine debris \u2013 around 30 minutes into Friday\u2019s early morning flight that had taken off from Thessaloniki, Greece.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pressure pulled Ljubi\u0161a, luckily he was strapped in, but half of his body was sticking out of the plane,\u201d his wife Svetlana Grkovi\u0107 told the Serbian outlet Nova.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI reacted immediately and grabbed his legs. I thought \u2018If we die, we die together.\u2019 It was horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grkovi\u0107 said her hubby \u201clost consciousness several times\u201d as the cabin\u2019s pressure dropped.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She and a fellow traveler held his legs together as the plane, which was bound for Memmingen, Germany, diverted back to Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n

Karovi\u0107, who sells and rents apartments in Greece, was left \u201cseriously injured and in shock,\u201d his wife said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis hand is particularly badly injured and he\u2019s got burns,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not able to communicate, he doesn\u2019t remember the whole event.\u201d<\/p>\n

But she said, \u201cIt\u2019s important to me that he\u2019s alive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other witnesses said Karovi\u0107 had \u201cblood on his head and kept passing out,\u201d Greek outlet Protothema reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

The plane safely returned to Thessaloniki \u2013 but footage showed one<\/a> of the engine\u2019s nacelles \u2013 or protective pods \u2013 shredded with an engine blade missing.<\/p>\n

But as chaos unfolded in the air, some travelers feared the plane would crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were all wearing oxygen masks and didn\u2019t know if we\u2019d make it,\u201d one said.<\/p>\n

A Ryanair spokesperson told The Post the plane returned to Thessaloniki when a window \u201cdislodged in flight.\u201d<\/p>\n

One passenger received medical assistance on the ground \u2013 while other travelers were put on a replacement aircraft which left the Greek city later that morning.<\/p>\n
