\n The Federal Reserve has begun a new chapter in its 113-year history \u2014 one that will usher in widespread changes, Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh said in prepared remarks Tuesday.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cToday we are at a hinge point in history,\u201d Warsh said in prepared testimony for the House Financial Services Committee as part of his semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress. \u201cWe have a duty to point the institution forward \u2014 to take a fresh look at current practices to make sure we are serving our objectives.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n He added that the Fed must have \u201chumility about what we know \u2014 and the courage to revisit our prior views.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Warsh again stressed the importance of getting inflation under control, as he did during last month\u2019s news conference, his first as head of the central bank.\n <\/p>\n

\n He did not mention the role of geopolitical shocks in roiling inflation pressures, instead saying \u201cmonthly price fluctuations are inevitable \u2014 especially in an unsettled world.\u201d Global oil prices were up sharply on Tuesday <\/a>following the collapse of the US-Iran ceasefire.\n <\/p>\n

\n The Fed leader described AI\u2019s impact on business investment as \u201cthe most striking feature of the economy right now.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe don\u2019t know the extent to which the economy will benefit from the AI buildout,\u201d Warsh said. \u201cYet it seems inevitable that what is now called \u2018AI investment\u2019 will soon be called just \u2018investment.\u2019\u201d\n <\/p>\n
