Anne Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman<\/a>, were \u201cshocked\u201d by her \u201cbuzzer beater\u201d pregnancy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actress, 43, clarified to \u201cLate Night With Seth Meyers\u201d viewers<\/a> on Monday that she and the jewelry designer, 45, \u201cknew what [they] were doing\u201d when they conceived baby No. 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were so shocked it worked,\u201d the \u201cOdyssey\u201d star said. \u201cWe knew \u2026 but we were so shocked it went this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress quipped that she and husband Adam Shulman (pictured above on April 18) \u201cknew what [they] were doing\u201d when they conceived. FilmMagic<\/p>\n

When Hathaway joked that her child on the way is a \u201cbuzzer beater,\u201d Seth Meyers gushed, \u201cThat\u2019s great! You got it in right at the buzzer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The host, who is a three-time dad, went on to give Hathaway advice for her bigger brood, saying there is \u201cnot much you can do except watch\u201d since parenthood \u201cgoes from [being] just terrified to [watching] a TV show you binge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hathaway replied, \u201cThat\u2019s great because I love the channel right now, so it\u2019s just more of that. Oh, cool, a new cast member.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the couple (pictured above on May 20) were still \u201cshocked it worked.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n

News broke last month that Hathaway and Shulman are expanding their family when the Emmy winner debuted her bump<\/a> during a St. Tropez getaway.<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe winner subsequently posted to Instagram<\/a>, writing, \u201cBaby, I\u2019m yours.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Hathaway hid her pregnancy during the \u201cDevil Wears Prada 2\u201d press tour<\/a> in June, she has flaunted it while promoting<\/a> her latest project.<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old referred to her pregnancy as her \u201cbuzzer beater.\u201d Santi Ramales \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n

The Oscar winner announced in June that she is expecting. annehathaway\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Most recently, Hathaway appeared on Meyers\u2019 talk show in an all-white ensemble that the host said had her \u201cglowing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hathaway and Shulman, who wed in 2012, are already the parents of sons<\/a> Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the Oscar winner opened up about her fertility struggles<\/a>, calling it a \u201creally painful and very isolating\u201d experience \u201cfull of self-doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having children was \u201cmore complicated\u201d for her than \u201cwav[ing] a magic wand,\u201d she told the Associated Press at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get pregnant and for the majority of cases, this is a really happy time,\u201d Hathaway noted. \u201cBut a lot of people who are trying to get pregnant: That\u2019s not really the story. Or that\u2019s one part of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

She and Shulman have been together since 2008.<\/p>\n
