The LP is a follow-up to the musician\u2019s Grammy-winning effort Hyperspace<\/p>\n

\n\tBeck<\/a> will release his 15th studio album, Ride Lonesome, on Sept. 18 via Capitol Records. The LP marks the musician\u2019s first collection of new songs since 2019\u2019s Hyperspace<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tBeck previously shared the title track, \u201cRide Lonesome,\u201d<\/a> in April. He released an expanded version of the song featuring Sierra Ferrell\u00a0not long after. Along with the album\u2019s announcement, Beck released a second single, \u201cIn the Night,\u201d along with a cinematic music video for the track, which was directed by Mikai Karl and stars famed French actor Denis Lavant.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn the Night\u201d was produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich, and features several musicians who played on Beck\u2019s 2015 album Morning Phase and 2002\u2019s Sea Change.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBeck recently explained the delay between albums in an interview with NPR<\/a>. \u201cI had to wait a couple of years to get back to work [after Covid],\u201d he said. \u201cBut I\u2019ve been writing a lot of songs. It\u2019s been a very prolific time for me.\u2026 I\u2019ve just been working on my music pretty constantly. I built a recording studio. You know, I\u2019ve been living life. I\u2019ve probably made multiple albums\u2019 worth of music that probably no one will ever hear, but hopefully it leads to something. I\u2019ve got lots of things cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI\u2019ve been in the studio a lot on and off the last four years with my band. There\u2019s a group of musicians I came up with that were my touring band for a lot of my early records. And everybody\u2019s gone off to bigger and better things, but we still get together and we\u2019ll find a couple of days here and there and make some music. And, yeah, I have a lot of different projects I want to do, so hopefully there\u2019s time to get to all of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a new statement, the musician said that many of the musicians who recorded seminal albums Sea Change and Morning Phase \u201creconvened with me\u201d at a Hollywood recording studio. \u201cIt had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded\u00a0Morning Phase,\u201d he said. \u201cThis time it felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened \u2014 a sound that\u2019s come together over the decades of working together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBeck will celebrate the release of Ride Lonesome with the kickoff of his Ride Lonesome tour<\/a> at Vancouver\u2019s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Sept. 16. The expansive North American tour concludes Oct. 31 at the Truth in Nashville.<\/p>\n
