MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) – The city of Menomonie issued a precautionary boil water advisory following a loss of water pressure due to high water demand.<\/p>\n
According to a Facebook post from the city of Menomonie, residents are advised to boil water. They say until the advisory has been lifted:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing baby formula, coffee, or beverages.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Commercially bottled water may also be used.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Continue these precautions until the city announces that the advisory has been lifted<\/p>\n
To help meet immediate household needs, bottled drinking water will be available beginning 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 16 at the Community Services Department, 621 11th Avenue W. <\/p>\n
Residents who are unable to travel due to age, disability, or medical circumstances are encouraged to contact the City so alternative arrangements can be made whenever possible.<\/p>\n
Following restoration of normal water pressure, the City will flush portions of the distribution system and collect water samples throughout the affected service area.<\/p>\n
Certified laboratories will analyze these samples for:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Total coliform bacteria<\/p>\n
\u2022 E. coli bacteria (if follow-up testing is required)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Chlorine residuals<\/p>\n
\u2022 Other water quality indicators required under Wisconsin Safe Drinking Water regulations<\/p>\n
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms the water meets all state and federal drinking water standards.<\/p>\n
