One of the (many) nice things about living in L.A. is constantly seeing places you know and love in starring roles on the big and small screen alike (cue the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme). And while scores of TV shows have used Los Angeles as its setting, HBO\u2019s Insecure is one of the best to ever do it.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s been 10 years since the show first premiered\u2014and five since it took its final bow. But now Issa Rae and showrunner Prentice Penny are dialing in to nostalgia and the continued love for their show both with a new rewatch podcast, Blocc Party<\/a>, and an accompanying 13-city live tour, kicking off in Philadelphia and wrapping up right here in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n The Insecure pilot, \u201cInsecure as Fuck,\u201d aired October 9, 2016, and now, almost a decade to the day, Insecure: The 10th Anniversary Tour will arrive at the YouTube Theater on October 8. It\u2019s fitting that the live show will be held in Inglewood. Insecure famously showcased parts of L.A. that are often overlooked\u2014giving Inglewood and South L.A. neighborhoods including Leimert Park and View Park-Windsor Hills as much or more screen time as L.A. hot spots like Gracias Madre<\/a>, Highland Park Bowl<\/a>, Damian<\/a>, Alta Adams<\/a> and Cinespia<\/a>. Inglewood is also where Rae\u2019s production studio, Hoorae, is based, and the multihyphenate also has a hand in the local Hilltop Coffee +\u00a0Kitchen<\/a>\u00a0chain and the\u00a0newer\u00a0supper club\/jazz venue Somerville<\/a>.<\/p>\n So what can you expect at the anniversary show? First and foremost, candid conversations and behind-the-scenes secrets from Rae and Penny. The press release also promises an \u201cintimate celebration of Insecure\u2019s lasting cultural impact\u201d through \u201cuntold stories and unforgettable moments from the groundbreaking series.\u201d And other cast members\u2014Yvonne Orji (Molly), Jay Ellis (Lawrence) and Natasha Rothwell (Kelli)\u2014will drop by as special guests on select tour dates. (There\u2019s no confirmation on which dates, but I feel like it\u2019s a safe bet that all three would try to make it for the last date of the tour). So if you miss hanging with Issa and Molly, here\u2019s your chance.<\/p>\n
