Carlos Alcaraz has entered next month’s Cincinnati Open as the world number three moves closer to returning from a wrist injury.<\/p>\n
The seven-time Grand Slam champion last played on tour in April when he suffered an injury at the Barcelona Open.<\/a><\/p>\n He has since withdrawn from the French Open and Wimbledon, missing the chance to defend his Roland Garros title.<\/p>\n Alcaraz will miss the Canadian Open, the next Masters tournament on the calendar, which is held in Montreal from 2-13 August.<\/p>\n But he intends to feature in the Cincinnati Open, also a Masters event, which runs from 13-23 August.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old will be looking to prove his readiness for the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year where he is reigning champion.<\/a><\/p>\n Alcaraz is also the title holder at Cincinnati, after Jannik Sinner retired from their final last year because of illness.<\/p>\n Dominant Sinner has won all five Masters 1,000 titles so far this year, and he is in the field for Montreal following his triumph for a second successive year at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n
