KERRVILLE, Texas \u2013 A man who narrowly escaped raging floodwaters with his family in Kerrville recounted his experience to KSAT\u2019s Garrett Brnger on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Robert Shelton said he was able to get his wife, daughter and his daughter\u2019s friend into an attic as water nearly filled his house. His Jeep was swept into a tree several feet away from their driveway, leaving them without a way to get out.<\/p>\n
Shelton said there were moments he didn\u2019t think he would survive, but he \u201ckept having faith.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe girls were worried, and they were saying, \u2018Is this it, Dad?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018No, it\u2019s not it. We\u2019re going to make it,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
They were able to wait long enough for rescuers to arrive as the water receded.<\/p>\n
Officials confirmed two deaths from the severe storms in South Texas<\/a>, including a man who was swept away in a nearby home upstream. A second man died in Uvalde after floodwaters swept his vehicle away.<\/p>\n
