\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Below are your first look images of stars Joseph Morgan<\/a>\u00a0(Vampire Diaries)\u00a0and Katie Cassidy<\/a>\u00a0(Arrow) in the contemporary reimagining of H.P. Lovecraft\u2019s short story Herbert West: Reanimator<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tWe first told you about the movie of the same name last year and it has now gone into production in Alton, Illinois. <\/p>\n

\n\tMorgan, also known for The Originals and Titans, will play \u201cbrilliant surgeon and scientist Herbert West\u00a0(Morgan), who is obsessed with creating a serum to reanimate the dead. When a pathologist\u00a0(Cassidy)\u00a0with a troubled past joins his efforts, they prove that conquering death may be the ultimate sin against life itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Morgan and Cassidy will also serve\u00a0as\u00a0executive producers\u00a0alongside producer Jeff Lewis. of Woodlake Entertainment, which is financing. The original screenplay and storyline comes from\u00a0Jade Sandberg Wallace.<\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Grossman is directing. Supporting cast includes Scott Aiello, Ira J Amyx, Randall Newsome, Emma Reinagal, James D. Bryce, Kathryn A Bentley, Jack Lancaster, Amy Holland Pennell, John Pierson, Mindy Shaw, Eric Dean White, Tristan Wilder Hallet, Adrienne Lamping, Aaron Crippen, and Drew Patterson.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film\u2019s extended synopsis reads: \u201cAs a child, Herbert West watches his father Peter reanimate his dead mother Judith in a secret basement lab \u2014 only for Judith to mortally wound Peter and nearly kill Herbert before Peter shoots her. The trauma leaves its mark on Herbert, but so does one final image: his mother\u2019s finger, twitching after death. Thirty years later, Herbert West is a brilliant, secretive surgeon still chasing his father\u2019s obsession. Pathologist Kate Locke arrives in town and is drawn into his orbit \u2014 first through a spark at a hospital fundraiser, then through his secret lab, where he reveals a serum capable of reanimating severed tissue. Kate, hiding a dark past of her own, is thrilled rather than horrified, and moves into West\u2019s mansion to work alongside him. Their early experiments on a cadaver succeed only briefly. West concludes that dead tissue is the problem \u2014 they need something fresher.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 1922 short story was adapted into a cult genre movie in 1985, starring Jeffrey Combs and directed by Stuart Gordon.<\/p>\n

\n\tA Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) and Arrow actress Cassidy said:\u00a0\u201cI am excited to step back into this genre. It\u2019s been awhile since I have done horror. I loved the original film and this has a dark twist, which I am excited to sink my teeth into.\u201d<\/p>\n
