{"id":770377,"date":"2026-07-18T14:42:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-18T14:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/770377\/"},"modified":"2026-07-18T14:42:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-18T14:42:19","slug":"rabid-bat-found-in-seattle-near-the-university-of-washington-kiro-7-news-seattle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/770377\/","title":{"rendered":"Rabid bat found in Seattle near the University of Washington \u2013 KIRO 7 News Seattle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gdrPeS body-paragraph\">According to staff at the Seattle Department of Public Health, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/publichealthinsider.com\/2026\/07\/17\/rabid-bat-found-in-seattle-near-the-university-of-washington\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/publichealthinsider.com\/2026\/07\/17\/rabid-bat-found-in-seattle-near-the-university-of-washington\/\">news release<\/a> on Friday, a rabid bat was found Wednesday on the sidewalk on University Way Northeast between NE 41st and 42nd Streets. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gdrPeS body-paragraph\">In the statement, the department urged \u201canyone who might have had physical contact\u201d with the bat to seek medical attention even if they were not bitten. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gdrPeS body-paragraph\">Rabies is a viral disease that infects the central nervous system of humans and animals.
