(WPDE) \u2014 Monday night, several leaders came together for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Jean and Hugh K Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>This facility is named after former South Carolina state senator, the late Hugh Leatherman and his wife, Jean.<\/p>\n<p>To have our names on this building is an honor beyond words,&#8221;  Jean Leatherman, lead advocate, said.  &#8220;But the true honor lies in what will happen within these walls.<\/p>\n<p>This new $100 million behavioral health facility will offer a wide range of mental health services, from crisis stabilization and triage to telehealth, outpatient and inpatient care.<\/p>\n<p>It stands as a beacon of hope for individuals and families who may be facing some of the most difficult moments in their lives,&#8221; Leatherman said. &#8220;It says to them you\u2019re not alone, you matter, and help is here.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/wpde.com\/news\/local\/mental-health-care-facility-florence-pee-dee-north-carolina-south-musc#\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/wpde.com\/news\/local\/mental-health-care-facility-florence-pee-dee-north-carolina-south-musc#\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New behavioral health facility nears completion in Pee Dee<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leaders from all over the state attended tonight\u2019s ceremony, offering their support, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.<\/p>\n<p>Today, at this collaboration among all these different talents, these different assets, these different parts, it\u2019ll address the situation, the problems, the deficiencies one way or another,&#8221; McMaster said. &#8220;This is the answer, you can\u2019t do it with a single talent, or a single discipline, you have to have them all working together. Particularly in mental health, because there is so much to it. So you have to take a comprehensive approach, and this place does that.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will feature a 63-bed inpatient psychiatric unit for patients in need of acute care.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a collaborative effort between McLeod Health, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Francis Marion University, and Hope Health.<\/p>\n<p>The pavilion is located at 121 E. Cedar Street in Florence. <\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re expected to begin servicing their first patients by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility is also expanding support for teens and adolescents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FLORENCE, S.C.
