Everyone is picking sides ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, and Indiana Fever guard and WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark is among them.

Following the Fever’s 108-88 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday night, Clark was asked about her rooting interest for the World Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

Clark made it very clear she will be rooting for Argentina because, just like millions and millions of people around the globe, she’s a huge fan of Lionel Messi.

“I’m cheering for Argentina,” Clark revealed. “I want Messi, so I’ll be cheering hard.”

Clark will be pulling for the underdog, as Spain is favored to beat Argentina because of its superior roster.

However, with the greatest player on the planet in Messi on its roster, Argentina can never be counted out.

Caitlin Clark played soccer growing up

"IndianaIndiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) celebrates a 3-pointer Friday, July 17, 2026, during the second half of a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Indiana Fever defeated the Seattle Storm, 110-107.

Clark played several sports growing up, but she was particularly fond of soccer.

“I loved soccer growing up and I probably could have played in college, too,” Clark said on the Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston podcast last month.

The problem for Clark was that soccer and basketball conflicted with one another, so she ended up focusing on the latter over the former.

“And it was just really hard in the state of Iowa. Like, soccer was during the spring and so was AAU basketball. And I was like leaving for some USA Basketball stuff and I’d missed part of the year of high school soccer and then I’d come back and I just felt like a bad teammate,” Clark added. “So eventually I gave it up after my sophomore year.”

Safe to say, she made the right choice.

Clark rose to fame during her illustrious career at Iowa, and she brought her star power with her to the WNBA in 2024, when she was the No. 1 overall draft pick of the Fever.

Since then, Clark has become one of the best players in the WNBA, and she is without a doubt the most popular player in the league.

The WNBA has experienced levels of interest never before seen since Clark entered the league and that no doubt played a huge role in players scoring a more favorable Collective Bargaining Agreement that included a significant pay raise.

Clark has also become quite the polarizing figure, with her supporters and detractors regularly clashing over several different topics.

But that just comes with the territory of being the WNBA’s biggest star.

Everyone is picking sides ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, and Indiana…

[73
166971,1760,8363,2839,403,99,434,84938
post-772514","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-wnba","tag-2026-fifa-world-cup","tag-caitlin-clark","tag-fifa-world-cup","tag-indiana-fever","tag-soccer","tag-sports","tag-wnba","tag-world-cup
["GET
