\n\tAdriano Goldman, the cinematographer for HBO<\/a>\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d series, said in a recent interview with Andre Pilli <\/a>that the filming conditions for the show have been \u201cbrutal\u201d because the camera team must work around the young cast\u2019s strict shooting schedules.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou have to shoot really fast, and the faster you go, the more you compromise quality,\u201d Goldman said. \u201cThere\u2019s no way around it, right? Obviously, we have a lot of resources, but it\u2019s brutal. The kids\u2019 screen time is really brutal. So the methodology is very specific. You practically have to pre-shoot all the scenes while they\u2019re in class.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGoldman explained that Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley) and Arabella Stanton (Arabella Stanton) come to set for about \u201can hour and a half,\u201d and the schedule demands he shoots \u201csix setups\u201d before they have to leave again.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s really hard; you shoot everything out of order, right, because of that kind of scheduling,\u201d Goldman said. \u201cSo the process is really complicated, but I\u2019ve done one now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs noted by Goldman, part of the reason the timelines are so strict is that the child stars have to balance on-set schooling with filming. The BBC reported in July 2025 that Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the production home for HBO\u2018s \u201cHarry Potter,\u201d built a temporary school<\/a> for the show\u2019s many young actors.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Three Rivers District Council permitted the studio to \u201cuse a series of portable buildings as a school facility for the next decade. The proposed classrooms have been designed to be used by up to 600 pupils during peak periods, when large crowd scenes are shot, but will typically serve about 150 students. It will operate on weekdays between 5:30 am and 8:30 pm so young actors can fit in their actual studies between night shoots, reshoots and location filming.\u201d<\/p>\n
