Former Wisconsin Badger guard Nick Boyd signed an Exhibit 10 contract<\/a> with the Golden State Warriors after going undrafted<\/a> in the 2026 NBA Draft.<\/p>\n

Listed as the No. 72 overall transfer by 247Sports<\/a>, Boyd transferred to Wisconsin for his final season in the NCAA. As a Badger, he averaged 20.7 points<\/a> per game, finishing with the second-highest single-season point total in program history, just ahead of Boston Celtics guard John Tonje<\/a> and behind program legend Frank Kaminsky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite the accolades and a great combine performance<\/a>, Boyd was undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft for various reasons, including his age, size and defensive skills. At the age of 25, he was one of the oldest prospects in the draft.<\/p>\n

He also measured 6-foot-1 barefoot at the draft combine, raising questions about his ability to defend bigger guards and avoid getting targeted at the rim.<\/p>\n

Boyd suited up as the starting point guard for the Warriors’ Blue Team, playing major minutes all three days of the NBA California Classic Summer League in July. Despite a rough start against the Milwaukee Bucks on day one, shooting<\/a> 2 for 10 from the field and 1 for 5 from three-point range, he still finished with 11 points, the second most for the blue team.<\/p>\n

Boyd quickly built on the momentum over the remaining two days, recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists<\/a> against the Sacramento Kings and closing out the tournament with 13 points<\/a> against the Brooklyn Nets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Boyd’s path to the NBA didn’t come as a given. He spent four seasons at Florida Atlantic University \u2013 including a trip to the 2023 Final Four \u2013 before a dominant season at San Diego State, where he started all 31 games and finished with an average of 13.4 points per game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nick Boyd is no stranger to being overlooked and tested. Following his performance at the California leg of the Summer League, he earned a spot to represent the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas. Boyd was left out of the rotation entirely in the Warriors’ Las Vegas opener, despite having led the Blue Team in minutes in the California Classic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Boyd came off the bench against the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 12, joining forward Yaxel Lendeborg and second-year center Lachlan Olbrich as the highest scorers across both teams with 14 points<\/a>. He stayed efficient and composed, shooting 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from 3-point range.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the following game two days later, Boyd and the Warriors took a 106 – 85 loss<\/a> against the Memphis Grizzlies, he posted 4 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in 15 minutes off the bench.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nick Boyd is still looking to find his rhythm at the highest level, as brief flashes of his playmaking and scoring ability set him up for more time on the court. Turning those flashes into a constant flow will be his next hurdle to jump in order to become a reliable guard.<\/p>\n

As Summer League continues, Boyd\u2019s next few games will carry much weight both in displaying his value to the Warriors and in shaping his broader case for a spot in the league this fall.<\/p>\n
