{"id":774488,"date":"2026-07-20T20:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T20:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/774488\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T20:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T20:17:15","slug":"derek-lalonde-named-associate-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/774488\/","title":{"rendered":"Derek Lalonde named associate coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BROSSARD \u2013 Montreal Canadiens president, hockey operations\u00a0Jeff Gorton announced on Monday\u00a0that Derek Lalonde\u00a0has been appointed as associate coach.<\/p>\n<p>Lalonde made his NHL coaching debut as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning\u00a0in\u00a02018, assuming the role until\u00a02022\u00a0and\u00a0helping the team win\u00a0consecutive Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021. He then served as head coach of the Detroit Red Wings from 2022 to 2024 before joining the Toronto Maple\u00a0Leafs\u00a0as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Brasher Falls, NY,\u00a0Lalonde\u00a0brings\u00a0more than 20 years of coaching experience\u00a0in professional hockey.
