The Indiana Fever may be closing in on the WNBA <\/a>All-Star break, but one major question continues to surround Caitlin Clark<\/a>. Despite producing some of the best basketball of her young career, the star guard still isn’t guaranteed a return to unrestricted minutes.<\/p>\n

Indiana faces the Connecticut Sun next, and many expected Clark’s workload to increase after several encouraging performances. Instead, head coach Stephanie White admitted she still isn’t sure when the former No. 1 overall pick will be cleared to play without limitations.<\/p>\n

“I have no idea,” White told reporters when asked whether Clark’s minutes restriction would be lifted. “It’s one day at a time.”<\/p>\n

Those comments indicate Clark still won’t have the freedom she’d likely prefer on the court, even though she’s continued to thrive in limited action.<\/p>\n

Over her last five appearances, she’s averaged just over 24 minutes per game as the Fever carefully manage her recovery from a lingering back injury that has already sidelined her for multiple games this season.<\/p>\n

Indiana’s cautious approach isn’t necessarily about what Clark can do now. While Clark has repeatedly shown she can perform at an elite level, the Fever appear determined not to rush her back into a heavier workload before they’re fully confident in her condition.<\/p>\n

Clark continues proving her value despite restrictions<\/p>\n

If there were any doubts about Clark’s ability to dominate while playing limited minutes, she’s done plenty to erase them.<\/p>\n

She recently delivered the best scoring performance of her WNBA career by dropping 45 points against the Seattle Storm, adding 10 assists to become the first player in league history to record at least 40 points and 10 assists in the same game.<\/p>\n

She didn’t slow down after that historic outing either. Less than 24 hours later, Clark returned to lead Indiana past the New York Liberty, finishing with 17 points and seven assists despite the quick turnaround.<\/p>\n

Clark has also expressed confidence in how she’s feeling physically, saying she felt “good” after playing on consecutive days.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, White admitted there were still stretches where her star guard appeared slightly off balance, suggesting the coaching staff believes there is still work to do before removing the remaining restrictions.<\/p>\n

Away from the discussion surrounding her health, Clark recently shared high praise for teammate Sophie Cunningham, whose popularity has skyrocketed over the past year.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ESPN, Clark said every team in the WNBA would love to have a player with Cunningham’s mentality because of the intensity and toughness she brings every night.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery single team in this league would probably kill to have a player like that,\u201d Clark said.<\/p>\n

Cunningham’s willingness to defend teammates has become one of her defining traits, while her improved outside shooting and increased production have strengthened her value on the floor.<\/p>\n

Although she has rejected the idea that she’s Clark’s personal enforcer, her fearless style has made her an important part of Indiana’s identity.<\/p>\n

The Fever’s priority remains protecting Clark’s long-term health.
