\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Will Smith<\/a> looks to have found the first co-star for his next film, as sources tell Deadline that I Play Rocky star AnnaSophia Robb<\/a> is set to join Smith in the Amazon MGM Studios<\/a> and Miramax<\/a> thriller Supermax<\/a>. David Gordon Green is directing<\/a> the pic.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline reported in May that Amazon MGM Studios was closing a deal<\/a> for worldwide distribution rights for the film, which will be available in more than 240 countries and territories on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

\n\tRobb is set to play Smith\u2019s young partner in the film as the two detectives enter the depths of a supermax prison to solve a mysterious murder.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman will produce alongside Smith and Adam Fishbach for Smith\u2019s Westbrook. The film is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, known for their work on the TV series Hunters and Invasion. CAA Media Finance brokered the deal between Amazon and Miramax.<\/p>\n

\n\tWeil and Rosen also will executive produce alongside associate producer Natalie Laine Williams. Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, President of Film Alexandra Loewy, COO Thom Zadra and SVP Spencer Ela will executive produce.<\/p>\n

\n\tRobb is next up in a leading role in Amazon MGM\u2019s Peter Farrelly-directed biographical drama I Play Rocky, the movie that tells the behind-the-scenes true story of the production of the seminal 1976 classic Rocky. Following the release of the trailer<\/a> last week, the film has gained award-season buzz and is set to world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n

\n\tRobb also is set to join the recurring cast<\/a> of the Prime Video comedy Overcompensating for its second season. She is coming off rave reviews for her turn in the Emmy-winning Netflix film Rebel Ridge, opposite Aaron Pierre, with other recent credits including Peacock\u2019s Dr. Death and Hulu\u2019s Little Fires Everywhere.<\/p>\n

\n\tRobb initially broke out with various roles across film and television including Disney\u2019s Bridge to Terabithia, the Bethany Hamilton biopic Soul Surfer and the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, on which she took on the iconic titular role.<\/p>\n

\n\tThere is a lot of connective tissue on Supermax. The Picture Company just wrapped production on Weil\u2019s feature directorial debut, the Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 thriller Tyrant starring Charlize Theron, Julia Garner and Demi Moore. Supermax also reunites Green with co-writer Rosen, who created the Apple TV series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which Green directed and executive produced.<\/p>\n
