{"id":776470,"date":"2026-07-21T20:10:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T20:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/776470\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T20:10:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T20:10:08","slug":"other-mommy-trailer-jessica-chastain-returns-to-horror-in-blumhouse-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/776470\/","title":{"rendered":"Other Mommy Trailer: Jessica Chastain Returns to Horror in Blumhouse Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jessica-chastain\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jessica-chastain_1\" data-tag=\"jessica-chastain\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jessica Chastain<\/a> is back in the horror genre \u2014 and she\u2019s pulling double duty this time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/universal-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_universal-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"universal-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Universal Pictures<\/a> released the first trailer for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/other-mommy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_other-mommy_1\" data-tag=\"other-mommy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Other Mommy<\/a> on Tuesday, in which Chastain plays Ursula, a mother whose evil clone \u2014 referred to as \u201cOther Mommy\u201d \u2014 terrorizes her daughter, Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark). \u201cCan I go inside your heart?\u201d Other Mommy says to Bela.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThings ramp up toward the end of the trailer when it becomes challenging for Bela to tell if she\u2019s indeed talking to her mom or Other Mommy. The trailer has been playing exclusively to screenings of <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/the-odyssey-cast-characters-christopher-nolan\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/the-odyssey-cast-characters-christopher-nolan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey<\/a>, which is also from Universal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHere is the official synopsis: \u201cBela, an 8-year-old girl living in a home with marital problems, confronts a sinister entity that comes out of her closet. The presence, who she calls \u2018Other Mommy,\u2019 becomes increasingly threatening to her and her family.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther Mommy also marks Chastain\u2019s return to the horror genre. The Oscar winner has previously starred in Take Shelter (2011), Mama (2013), Crimson Peak (2015) and It: Chapter Two (2019).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film is an adaptation of the\u00a0New York Times\u00a0bestselling novel\u00a0Incidents Around the House.\u00a0Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) is directing from a screenplay by Nathan Elston (Succession). Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed and Karen Allen round out the cast. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJames Wan (Obsession, Backrooms and Conjuring franchises) of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/blumhouse\/\" id=\"auto-tag_blumhouse_1\" data-tag=\"blumhouse\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blumhouse<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/atomic-monster\/\" id=\"auto-tag_atomic-monster_1\" data-tag=\"atomic-monster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atomic Monster<\/a> produces with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Savage, Josh Malerman and Ryan Lewis serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther Mommy is slated to <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/2026-new-horror-movie-releases\/other-mommy\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/2026-new-horror-movie-releases\/other-mommy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">release in theaters on Oct. 9<\/a>.
