Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Damon (previously Luciana Barroso), have been married for two decades. But unlike many Hollywood love stories, theirs didn\u2019t begin on a movie set. The couple first met in 2003 at a Miami bar, where Luciana was working as a bartender, and Matt stopped in with his set crew after a day of filming Stuck On You.<\/p>\n

More than 20 years later, the two are married, share three children (the actor is also a stepfather to Luciana\u2019s daughter from a previous relationship), have collaborated on film projects, and regularly appear together on red carpets. Most recently, Luciana has been by Matt\u2019s side throughout the press tour for his latest film, The Odyssey.<\/p>\n

So who is Luciana Damon? Here\u2019s everything to know about Matt Damon\u2019s wife and their decades-long relationship.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s from Argentina. <\/p>\n

Luciana Boz\u00e1n was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She later relocated to Miami, Florida, where she would eventually meet her future husband.<\/p>\n

She met Matt while bartending in Miami. <\/p>\n

Luciana and Matt first crossed paths in 2003 at a bar in Miami Beach, where she was working as a bartender. The actor had stopped in with the crew from Stuck on You, which he was filming nearby. Recalling their first meeting during a 2011 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Matt said, \u201cI literally saw her across a crowded room, literally. Eight years and four kids later, that\u2019s my life. I don\u2019t know how else our paths would\u2019ve crossed if that didn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luciana later shared her side of the story in a rare 2018 interview with Vogue Australia<\/a>. \u201cMatt\u2019s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me,\u201d she joked. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like: \u2018Yeah, it was a nightclub\u2014there were lights everywhere!’\u201d<\/p>\n

As the bar filled with fans trying to hound Matt for photos and autographs, he hid out behind the bar, hoping to share a drink with Luciana. \u201cHe says \u2018Oh, I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you.\u2019 I said, \u2018If you\u2019re going to be back here, you can\u2019t just be standing there!\u2019\u201d she recalled. Luciana put Matt\u2014who had trained as a bartender for a previous film role\u2014to work. He made drinks and helped her earn \u201ca ton of money in tips,\u201d because everyone wanted to see him. \u201cSo it turned into a really fun night and then 15 years later here we are,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

At the time, Luciana was raising her four-year-old daughter, Alexia, as a single mother, so she declined Matt\u2019s invitation to continue the night out with his friends. \u201cI was like, \u2018I can\u2019t. I have a four-year-old daughter. I\u2019m not going anywhere,\u2019\u201d she told Vogue Australia. Rather than seeing it as a complication, Matt admired that being a mom was her priority. \u201cThat was one of the things he loved,\u201d she said. \u201cSome guys might have been different… but for him it wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

They married in 2005. <\/p>\n

After two years of dating, Luciana and Matt married in December 2005 in a private ceremony at New York City Hall. Not much is known about the actual wedding, but the actor reflected on his marriage in a recent interview with People<\/a> while promoting The Odyssey.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of love and respect underneath the relationship, and a lot of trust,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s built on a very sturdy foundation. We continue to grow and evolve as people, and so that foundation\u2019s really everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the greatest thing in my life,\u201d he added of their marriage.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s the mom of four daughters. <\/p>\n

When Luciana met Matt, she had a four-year-old daughter, Alexia Barroso, from her previous relationship. The actor happily stepped into a stepfather role, and the couple went on to have three daughters together after tying the knot. They welcomed daughter Isabella Damon on June 11, 2006, daughter Gia Damon on August 20, 2008, and their youngest, Stella Damon, on October 20, 2010. All four of their daughters have joined them on red carpets over the years.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s worked as a producer on several films. <\/p>\n

After years of contributing behind the scenes, Luciana officially added \u201cproducer\u201d to her resum\u00e9. She served as an executive producer on Matt\u2019s 2024 film The Instigators and as a producer on the 2026 thriller The Rip.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight<\/a> in 2024, Matt said the producing credit was long overdue. \u201cShe\u2019s been reading every script and watching every cut of every movie for 21 years. This is the first time we ever kind of codified it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to Matt, Luciana was initially reluctant to take the title despite her work on the film. \u201cShe didn\u2019t even want to take the credit,\u201d he said. \u201cShe was there every day, she was doing all this work on the script, and then she was like, \u2018Nah, I don\u2019t want to take the credit.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThe other producers on the movie… came of their own volition [and said], \u2018If you\u2019re not taking credit, we\u2019re not taking credit.\u2019 It was very sweet.
