The Kansas City Chiefs laid out the vision for their planned stadium they hope to open in 2031.<\/p>\n

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt announced<\/a> last December the team will eventually leave Arrowhead Stadium behind and relocate to Kansas City, Kansas.<\/p>\n As far as franchise moves go, swapping Kansas City, Missouri, for the other Kansas City isn’t a major change.<\/p>\n But a big chunk of the fanbase will be sad to see Arrowhead Stadium go. The venue has witnessed plenty of history in its 50-plus years of operation, and it will always be associated with what has been the Chiefs’ most successful period.<\/p>\n Moving into a domed stadium is likely to be divisive as well. Sitting in cold, windy or wet conditions isn’t that much fun as a fan, but it can add to the atmosphere. Some consider sitting in the stands in those situations as a badge of honor.<\/p>\n Teams in colder cities can also get quite a home-field advantage. The temperature in Kansas City’s 2024 divisional round win<\/a> over the Miami Dolphins was minus-four degrees.<\/p>\n Alas, the Chiefs’ stadium plans are part of a wider trend<\/a> as NFL teams increasingly embrace a climate-controlled atmosphere that will potentially open the door for staging more events outside of the football calendar.<\/p>\n
