ATLANTA — – Rookie Jim Jarvis<\/a> drilled a run-scoring double<\/a> into the right-field corner to give Atlanta the lead in a six-run eighth inning and the Braves survived a ninth-inning scare to beat the San Diego Padres<\/a> 7-6 on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

With one out in the eighth, Mauricio Dub\u00f3n singled off left-hander Wandy Peralta<\/a> (1-1). Jarvis followed with the double that allowed Dub\u00f3n to score from first base for a 2-1 lead.<\/p>\n

Brewer Hicklen<\/a> drove in Jarvis with a double to left field. Ozzie Albies<\/a>, Matt Olson<\/a>, Austin Riley<\/a> and Dominic Smith<\/a> added run-scoring singles off Randy V\u00e1squez. The Braves collected seven of their 14 hits in the inning.<\/p>\n

Right-hander V\u00edctor Mederos gave up a run-scoring single to Gavin Sheets<\/a> and a two-run triple to Fernando Tatis Jr<\/a>. in the ninth. Raisel Iglesias<\/a> gave up a two-run homer to Luis Rengifo<\/a> before recording the final two outs for his 20th save.<\/p>\n

Dylan Lee<\/a> (5-0) pitched a scoreless eighth.<\/p>\n

San Diego right-hander Michael King<\/a> opened the game with two strikes to Drake Baldwin<\/a> before loading the bases with three straight walks. A grounder to first base by Michael Harris II<\/a> drove in Baldwin for a 1-0 lead that held until the seventh inning.<\/p>\n

King regrouped to allow one run with four walks and seven strikeouts in six innings.<\/p>\n

Jackson Merrill<\/a> tied the game with a homer to center field off Didier Fuentes<\/a> in the seventh.<\/p>\n

Braves left-hander Mart\u00edn P\u00e9rez, who suffered a left forearm contusion<\/a> when he was hit by Juan Soto<\/a>‘s liner on July 5, was reinstated from the injured list to start the game. P\u00e9rez gave up one hit with four walks in four scoreless innings.<\/p>\n

Right-hander JR Ritchie was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.<\/p>\n
