It\u2019s been well established that ESPN informed NFL analyst Ryan Clark that he was being let go while he was on the air. And Clark has chimed in on how it went down.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, TMZ (which was a little late to the party on this one) reiterated the reporting from Andrew Marchand of The Athletic regarding the decision to tell Clark while he was appearing<\/a> on NFL Live.<\/p>\n

From the TMZ report: \u201cRyan did not come back on the air after being informed he was being let go … obviously, the news rattled him, and we\u2019re told both Ryan and ESPN agreed it was better not to return<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The item went out with a headline and tweet that said Clark \u201cwasn\u2019t forced from air<\/a> during commercial break.\u201d That caught Clark\u2019s eye, and it drew a response.<\/p>\n

Said Clark<\/a>: \u201cI wasn\u2019t forced? I ask, \u2018should I be done now?\u2019 The answer was \u2018yes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

ESPN could have given Clark the option to finish the show. It wouldn\u2019t have been easy, for anyone. And he may have had something to say that would have gone viral, to say the least.<\/p>\n

Still, as Clark tells it, it wasn\u2019t a mutual decision. He didn\u2019t even participate in it.
