The Portland Fire found themselves down double digits on the scoreboard with less than five minutes to play before rushing back and nearly sending the game to overtime in the final seconds of Wednesday\u2019s 101-97 home loss to the Dallas Wings.<\/p>\n
Dallas led 99-90 with 1:21 on the clock when Portland made it surge, starting with a 3-pointer by Brandi Carleton, who will be participating in WNBA All-Star 3-point contest on Friday night.<\/p>\n
A couple misses at the Dallas end, and Portland was back on the attack with Megan DiLeo converting a layup, followed by a Karlie Samuelson steal in the backcourt that trimmed the margin to two points with 0:32 remaining.<\/p>\n
Dallas missed its third shot in a row. Carleton grabbed the rebound, dribbled down the sideline and worked her way near the free-throw line before putting up a difficult turnaround shot with three ticks on the clock. The ball bounced around the rim and fell out.<\/p>\n
The Wings\u2019 Arike Ogunbowale finished with a game-high 24 points, while DiLeo shot 9 for 13 (69.2%) shooting to lead the Fire with 21 points.<\/p>\n
