A Massachusetts physician<\/a> who stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and struck a police officer during the tumult has permanently lost her medical license, records show. <\/p>\n

The state Board of Registration in Medicine on July 16 revoked the right of Dr. Jacquelyn J. Starer, 72, to renew her medical license, which expired in March 2025, according to records. <\/p>\n

In a statement, the board said it found that Starer, an Ashland resident first licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts in 1983, \u201cwas among a crowd which stormed and breached the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, and that she struck a Metropolitan Police Officer with her closed fist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starer, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as general health and preventive medicine, had previously entered into a voluntary agreement not to practice following her arrest in December 2022<\/a>, officials said. <\/p>\n

Starer also \u201chas subspecialty certification in addiction medicine,\u201d the board said.<\/p>\n

Starer was sentenced in September 2024<\/a> to serve nine months in prison after pleading guilty<\/a> to a slew of federal charges, including assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers during the riot. <\/p>\n

In video recorded inside the rotunda, Starer wore a red Trump pom-pom hat as she pushed forward with the crowd, authorities said. At one point, she squared up with the Capitol Police officer, snarled her lips, clenched her teeth, raised her right fist, and lunged, according to legal filings.<\/p>\n

Starer struck the officer with her closed fist and hurled an expletive, authorities said.<\/p>\n

At sentencing, Starer told a judge she took \u201cfull responsibility for my actions that day, and I truly wish reason had prevailed over my emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starer also turned to apologize to the officer whom she assaulted. The officer, identified only by her initials in court filings, told the judge she feared for her life as she and other officers fought for hours to defend the Capitol from the mob of Donald Trump supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you really take responsibility for your actions or are you just going to say, \u2018It wasn\u2019t my fault. Fight or flight\u2019?\u201d the officer asked Starer before she addressed the court.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear how much time Starer ended up serving behind bars, if any. <\/p>\n

In his first day in office after winning reelection in 2024, President Trump pardoned, commuted the prison sentences, or vowed to dismiss the cases of all 1,500-plus people charged with crimes related to the Jan. 6 attack. <\/p>\n

On the US Bureau of Prisons website, Starer was listed as \u201cNot in BOP Custody as of: 01\/20\/2025,\u201d the same day Trump signed his sweeping order<\/a>. <\/p>\n
