Sabrina Ionescu’s clutch performance helped the New York Liberty secure a 95-94 win over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

With Chicago holding an eight-point lead and just under one minute remaining in the fourth quarter, Ionescu scored nine consecutive points for New York.<\/p>\n

Liberty center Jonquel Jones later hit a go-ahead free throw with three seconds left in the game, sealing the win.<\/p>\n

Ionescu finished with 29 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-7 from behind the arc.<\/p>\n

Fans were amazed by her night.<\/p>\n

Ionescu discussed her mindset during the late comeback.<\/p>\n

“Understood what the score was and we knew we had to get threes up, so obviously my teammates set good screens\u2026 I just saw the basket, I felt like I was kind of having my three-point shootout in game,” Ionescu said after the win, per\u00a0Madeline Kenney<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0New York Post.<\/p>\n

The four-time All-Star has won the WNBA’s 3-Point Contest in two of the past three years, but previously fired back at\u00a0reports<\/a>\u00a0she declined to participate in the 2026 competition.<\/p>\n

“I can’t decline an offer I never got officially invited to,” Ionescu\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0before Wednesday’s game. “So was pretty surprised to see that. Never got invited… Whether it’s against Steph Curry or in the W, I always go out and try and beat my record every single time I’ve gone out. So yeah, I mean I just kind of wanted to set the record straight. Like that was that was just false.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ionescu’s efforts against the Sky were particularly impressive considering New York’s other four starters weren’t as efficient offensively, combining to shoot just 17-of-46 from the field.<\/p>\n
