(KFVS) &#8211; The ongoing escalation between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz is creating an increase in gas prices, and some Cape Girardeau drivers are feeling frustrated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to AAA, Missouri\u2019s average for regular unleaded gas is $3.84\/gallon; that\u2019s 24 cents more than a week ago and about 98 cents higher than this time last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">However, the report says that Cape Girardeau is one of the cheapest cities in Missouri to fill up on gas, with an average of $3.77\/gallon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Despite that information, Cape Girardeau drivers expressed their irritation with the rising prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI just have a fit,\u201d one driver said. \u201cI can\u2019t believe&#8230; I remember when gas prices were way down, but they went up so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Another driver spoke about the fluctuation in gas prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s like they go up, and then they go down and then they just shoot right back up to even more,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Despite the pain drivers feel at the pump, they say they don\u2019t plan on traveling any less this summer. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KFVS.
