Kai Trump<\/a> stunned fans after revealing her washboard abs during a paddleboarding outing with her aunt, Ivanka Trump<\/a>, in July, and the 19-year-old shared just how she achieved the six-pack look. Kai, who will begin her freshman year at the University of Miami in the coming weeks, revealed that undergoing wrist surgery<\/a> gave her the space to focus on her fitness and spend more time in the gym.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After sustaining injuries from playing competitive golf, Kai was forced to undergo surgery to repair a tendon in her wrist in January. While she couldn’t pick up a golf club during her recovery, she could work out in the gym and informed her friends of her new goal. \u00a0<\/p>\n

“I literally told them, ‘I have seven months before I return to golf, we’re getting a six-pack,'” she shared with Fox News Digital<\/a>. “And I got a six-pack literally just by prioritizing the right foods and\u00a0working out.”<\/p>\n

In the gym, the social media star focuses on core exercises, squats and cardio, and favors the stair-climbing machine to build stamina. Kai also explained that working out had the added benefit of helping her mental wellbeing as well as her physical health.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I play a lot of golf\u2026and then work out,” she said. “Nothing clears your head better than\u00a0going to the gym\u00a0and working out\u2026Even if you’re not lifting heavy or if you’re just walking on the treadmill, being active clears your head and helps your mental health.”\u00a0As for her diet, Kai ensures she gets enough protein to sustain her, and tries to eat “very clean”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I weigh 120 pounds, and I probably eat around 150 grams of protein,” she explained. “[I] eat a lot of sustainable carbs and work out a lot. No matter what I’m doing, I always have like 40 grams of protein in the morning through a shake or something, just so I have it in my system.”<\/p>\n

“I would be totally fine eating steak for the rest of my life, or just chicken and rice, which is weird to some people, but I like it,” she admitted, before adding that her favorite meal was a ground beef bowl with rice and avocado.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When she wants to treat herself, Kai will have prosciutto and pesto, but overall sticks to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. It was her mother, Vanessa Trump<\/a>, who taught her about healthy living, as Kai told the outlet.\u00a0“Seeing how she eats and what she prioritizes\u2026I kind of grew into that,\u201d the high school graduate said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vanessa is currently battling breast cancer<\/a> and has been leaning on her family for support, particularly after she underwent surgery in May. Kai told Page Six<\/a>\u00a0that Vanessa was “doing better” amid her health battle, which the mom of five announced via social media in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.”<\/p>\n
