\n\tTo the surprise of no one, there will be no second season of Paramount+<\/a>\u2018s multi-camera comedy series Crutch<\/a> starring Tracy Morgan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is not a new development. The eight-episode first season, which was taped in front of a live audience in fall 2024, was released on the streamer Nov. 3, 2025. The options on the cast expired at the end of last year, effectively ending the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut the fate of The Neighborhood offshoot from CBS Studios was sealed earlier in 2025, following Skydance\u2019s acquisition of Paramount+ and CBS Studios parent Paramount. <\/p>\n

\n\tDays after the deal closed, Cindy Holland, Chair of Direct-to-Consumer who oversees Paramount+, spoke about the programming priorities for the streamer<\/a>, admitting that multi-camera comedies won\u2019t be a focus because CBS is \u201cfantastic\u201d in the genre and has all of the network\u2019s sitcoms are available on Paramount+ next day.<\/p>\n

\n\tIndeed, Crutch was the lone remaining original comedy series on Paramount+. There have been no comedy buys or orders, the streamer doesn\u2019t even have a head of comedy (though Jane Wiseman, EVP, Head of Originals, DTC, comes from a comedy background.)<\/p>\n

\n\tMorgan had already filmed Crutch when in March 2025 he was tapped to star in an NBC pilot<\/a> from 30 Rock\u2018s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, which became the series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. He was in second position to the NBC series initially; by the May 2026 renewal for Season 2<\/a>, the show already had him in first position after the lapse of his Crutch option.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe other Crutch cast members have also moved onto other projects. <\/p>\n

\n\tExecutive produced by Cedric the Entertainer and Eric C. Rhone and created by Owen Smith who served as executive producer and showrunner, Crutch was a rare multi-camera comedy with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. <\/p>\n

\n\tSet in the world of CBS\u2019 The Neighborhood, Crutch centers on its titular character Francois \u201cFrank\u201d Crutchfield (Morgan), who goes by \u201cCrutch,\u201d a brash, yet beloved Harlem shop owner whose world is turned upside down when his highbrow son and free-spirited daughter move back into the family home.<\/p>\n

\n\tJermaine Fowler, Kecia Lewis, Adrianna Mitchell, Adrian Martinez, Braxton Paul and Finn Maloney starred alonsgside Morgan.
