The Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins signed goaltender Cam Johnson to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2026-27 season on Friday.<\/p>\n
Johnson, 32, is one of the top goaltenders in the ECHL and has led the Florida Everblades to four of the past five Kelly Cup championships.<\/p>\n
Last season, the left-handed Johnson appeared in 49 regular season games and posted a 31-9-9 record, a 1.84 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and three shutouts. Those figures allowed him to claim the Nick Vitucci Award as the ECHL\u2019s top goaltender.<\/p>\n
In the postseason, Johnson played in 20 games and had a 16-4 record, a 1.88 goals against average, a .923 save percentage and three shutouts while leading the Everblades to a championship. Individually, Johnson claimed the June M. Kelly Award as postseason MVP.<\/p>\n
Barring injuries or other absences to the Pittsburgh Penguins\u2019 goaltenders under NHL contract, Johnson will likely be assigned to the Everblades, the Penguins\u2019 new ECHL affiliate.<\/p>\n
The undrafted Johnson is entering his 10th professional season.
