YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) \u2014 A Yuma doctor held on a $50 million bond faces felony charges as his clinic closes<\/a>, leaving patients worried about care and delayed medical records.<\/p>\n

Signs posted outside the doctor\u2019s clinic indicate it is closing, citing \u201ccircumstances beyond our control\u201d and attributing the closure to the attorney general\u2019s office. Patients said the notice has left them confused and concerned about their health care going forward.<\/p>\n

The signs state: \u201cDue to circumstances beyond our control\u2014and caused by the Attorney General\u2019s Office<\/a>\u2014we have to close our doors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some patients said they previously received a call in June telling them the clinic would no longer take appointments starting in September.<\/p>\n

Kara Cason said she and her father have been patients at the Bio Clinic \u2014 her father for about 15 years and Cason for about two. She said the signs went up yesterday, and she does not know what has changed since the June call.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were just here in June. We saw the doctor, and then we get told that,\u201d Cason said.<\/p>\n

The attorney general\u2019s office has accused Dr. Ifran Fazil of defrauding the state\u2019s Medicaid program<\/a>, money laundering and possessing dangerous drugs. A judge earlier this month denied his request to lower the $50 million bond or to allow him to be placed on house arrest.<\/p>\n

Cason said she is her father\u2019s caregiver and that the situation has been stressful for patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how many patients, consumers, everyone is just probably confused and stressed out. I mean my dad and I are. I am my dad\u2019s caregiver,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Cason said after receiving the June call, her family signed medical release forms to transfer her father\u2019s care to a different clinic. But she said she is still waiting for those records.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor what I am told, they are still two months behind on sending out medical information; everyone\u2019s medical information and it doesn\u2019t matter if you paid the $25,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The signs also direct patients with questions about medical records, appointments or other concerns to contact the Arizona attorney general\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
