In 101 days, we will defeat Susan Collins and reclaim our Senate seat. Let\u2019s get to work,\u201d Jackson said on social media.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The move comes just over two weeks after the prior candidate, Graham Platner, dropped out.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">A Marine veteran, oyster fisherman and political newcomer, Platner had earlier won the Democratic primary with an energetic, anti-establishment message that gained him national prominence.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">He weathered earlier scandals, including one related to a Nazi-linked tattoo, but his support plummeted after a former partner publicly accused him of rape.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Delegates cheer as Troy Jackson is announced as their US Senate nominee in Bangor, Maine, on Saturday.
