The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/index.cfm?Event=99399\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a> has announced a Class II recall of certain lots of levothyroxine sodium tablets distributed by Major Pharmaceuticals, saying the tablets are &#8220;subpotent&#8221; and may not deliver the full prescribed dose, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prevention.com\/health\/a73246480\/thyroid-levothyroxine-sodium-recall-fda\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prevention<\/a>. The drug is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/drugs-supplements\/levothyroxine-oral-route\/description\/drg-20072133\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">commonly used<\/a> to treat underactive thyroid and goiter, which is an enlarged thyroid gland. The agency says any health effects linked to the lower dose are expected to be temporary and reversible.&#13;\n                                    <\/p>\n<p class=\"storyParagraph\">&#13;<br \/>\n                                        The recall covers specific 10-count blister packs and 100-tablet cartons ranging from 25 micrograms to 150mcg, with affected lot numbers listed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/index.cfm?Event=99399\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FDA site<\/a>, and expiration dates stretching from July 2026 to January 2027.
