{"id":784600,"date":"2026-07-26T00:15:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/784600\/"},"modified":"2026-07-26T00:15:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:15:13","slug":"next-star-trek-film-jumps-to-the-far-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/784600\/","title":{"rendered":"Next &#8220;Star Trek&#8221; Film Jumps To The Far Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/next-star-trek-film-jumps-to-the-far-future.jpg\" data-caption=\"Paramount+\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/next-star-trek-film-jumps-to-the-far-future.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"next-star-trek-film-jumps-to-the-far-future\"\/><\/a>Paramount+<\/p>\n<p>Back in November last year, the news came that filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were set to write, produce and direct the next film in the \u201cStar Trek\u201d franchise.<\/p>\n<p>The pair are best known for their work writing and directing 2018\u2019s acclaimed comedy \u201cGame Night\u201d and 2023\u2019s well-regarded \u201cDungeons &amp; Dragons: Honor Among Thieves\u201d. They also wrote the script for the first Tom Holland-led MCU film \u201cSpider-Man: Homecoming\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, it was also said that the new film was to be a \u201ccompletely new take in the Star Trek universe and is not connected to any previous or current television series, movie, or prior movie development projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, the pair appeared at San Diego Comic-Con this week and briefly offered an update on how their work fits into the franchise:<\/p>\n<p>Daley: \u201c[It\u2019s] in progress, and we\u2019re very excited about it.  I think people will be surprised. I really can\u2019t say anything other than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Goldstein: \u201cI think we\u2019ve said in the past\u2026it won\u2019t be the characters that you\u2019ve seen previously in your Star Trek movies. So there will be a new take on that. And I think it\u2019ll probably be a little further into the future than we\u2019ve been before. What draws us to it is the opportunity to do a different spin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How far into the future is the big question.  The TNG\/DS9\/Voyager\/Picard era spans the late 24th century, but the franchise\u2019s \u201cDiscovery\u201d and \u201cStarfleet Academy\u201d series are set in the 32nd century with the key event known as The Burn \u2013 which desolated the galaxy \u2013 taking place in 3069.
