KYMA<\/p>\n<p>She is now suing the delivery company, Starship Technologies, alleging she suffered serious injuries, including a spinal fracture, and the case is set for a jury trial early next year. <\/p>\n<p>According to the suit, the robot was rolling in front of her, but then suddenly reversed and slammed into her.<\/p>\n<p>Perez, who claims the robot reversed again once she was on the pavement, was \u201claying on the ground and appeared in pain,\u201d with a 4-inch cut on her left arm, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/npr.brightspotcdn.com\/de\/1c\/c1056ed442fbb413a67da29c9771\/23-2385.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ASU police report<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Vrana Law Firm, which represents Perez,\u00a0said in a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.12news.com\/article\/news\/local\/woman-sues-starship-after-delivery-robot-allegedly-knocks-her-down\/75-254da309-f249-4b2f-a855-6234450f67f4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">provided to 12News<\/a> that the senior has \u201clifelong impairment,\u201d due to the injuries she sustained.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40087730\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/tempe-arizona-woman-sued-starship-135458148.jpg\" alt=\"Arizona State University parking garage where a woman was injured by a delivery robot.\" class=\"wp-image-40087730\"  \/>The plaintiff was working at an Arizona State University parking garage when the incident occurred.  KYMA<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Josh Kolsrud, who is not involved in the case, told the outlet that the law states that robots need to be properly monitored remotely by human operators as well as be insured. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means that they are responsible for not injuring other people wrongly, and also, you know, if somebody damages the robot, they can be held liable as well,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncluding having insurance of at least $100,000 on each robot, as well as having a human, a real person that\u2019s monitoring the robot itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post has reached out to Starship Technologies for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"She could have been terminated!
