{"id":787893,"date":"2026-07-27T19:56:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T19:56:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/787893\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T19:56:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T19:56:20","slug":"mitch-mcconnell-shares-new-photo-and-health-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/787893\/","title":{"rendered":"Mitch McConnell shares new photo and health update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mitch McConnell shares new photo, health update; says he won&#8217;t attend Fancy Farm<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/0e9d4f72-e2f6-442c-bb29-c9f49c78d1d9_1551196975.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Emily Sanderson\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>WASHINGTON \u2014<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"0\">Mitch McConnell says he is continuing to recover from a fall that sent him to the hospital, announcing he won&#8217;t be attending one of the biggest events in Kentucky&#8217;s political world this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"2\">The Kentucky senator shared in a statement that he&#8217;s &#8220;working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors\u2019 orders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">The senator shared a photo of him and his wife Elaine taken Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/cca02d39-c74d-45a9-a9fa-6574426f0abf.png\" alt=\"Image no longer available\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" draggable=\"true\" class=\"css-fphibt\"\/><img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/cca02d39-c74d-45a9-a9fa-6574426f0abf.png\" alt=\"Image no longer available\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"css-hr9vxw\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"6\">He said due to his recovery, he will not be able to make it to the Fancy Farm Picnic. McConnell attended the event in 2025.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"8\">\u201cThere\u2019s no place I\u2019d rather be on the first Saturday in August than with the good people of western Kentucky, feasting on pork and mutton. When I first attended forty-two years ago, Fancy Farm was a pretty lonely place to be a Republican. But, my, how times have changed. Today, western Kentucky is a conservative Republican sea of red. So I hate that I\u2019ll miss the fun this year, but I\u2019m sending my best wishes to the St. Jerome community for a successful picnic,&#8221; the senator shared. \u201cAs always, I appreciate all of your continued well wishes, and I\u2019m looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"9\">A statement from McConnell&#8217;s doctor says physicians visit with the Senator every day, discussing all aspects of his rehabilitation care. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"10\">&#8220;Since his discharge from hospital care, he has maintained a strenuous course of physical therapy and rehabilitation, including multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls. His bout with childhood polio continues to be a significant factor in his mobility.
