Alongside major small-screen updates such as a Reacher Season 4 trailer<\/a> and a release window for the next season of Apple TV’s Silo<\/a>, the best-loved movie franchises in the world turned up in full force, with none more hotly anticipated than Marvel Studios<\/a>\u2019 Hall H presentation, ahead of the theatrical debut of Avengers: Doomsday.<\/p>\n

After delivering an exclusive look at the future of the MCU in the opening of the presentation, and announcing that Avengers: Endgame would re-enter theaters ahead of Doomsday, Marvel Studios Producer and President Kevin Feige<\/a> delivered one of the shocks of the day<\/a> by confirming that not only was a new Ghost Rider<\/a> film in the works, but Project Hail Mary’s Ryan Gosling<\/a> would be starring, a role he had long pronounced his interest in.<\/p>\n

It was also confirmed that the film would be directed by Shawn Levy<\/a>, the man behind the record-breaking Deadpool and Wolverine, which would mark a reunion of the pair following their work on the upcoming <\/a>Star Wars: Starfighter<\/a>. “We spent a lot of time last year making Star Wars: Starfighter,” Levy told the shocked SDCC crowd, “As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing, and I finally said, ‘Bro, let\u2019s ride.’ So guys, we\u2019ll see you in 2028.”<\/p>\n

Kevin Feige Has Given ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ His Seal of Approval<\/p>\n

Alongside his announcement in Hall H, Feige was interviewed at SDCC by Collider’s Steve Weintraub<\/a>, and confirmed that, not only had he seen Starfighter, but he had given it his seal of approval. He said, “It\u2019s awesome. I didn’t need to see that movie to know those two are awesome. But I did watch it as a Star Wars fan, and it’s awesome.” The movie also stars Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, and Amy Adams and is scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2027. Starfighter is set five years after the events of the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and functions as a standalone story in a new era in a galaxy far, far away.<\/p>\n
