Suspect accused of strangling girlfriend in Columbia arrested in Texas<\/p>\n

\"BlairCOLUMBIA, Md. \u2014<\/p>\n

Howard County police said the man accused of strangling his girlfriend over the weekend in Columbia was arrested on Monday afternoon by local authorities in Texas.<\/p>\n

According to Howard County Police, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Darwin Carcamo-Santiago, 24, in connection to the death of Esmeralda Perez-Mendez, 35, of Takoma Park. He is wanted for allegedly strangling Perez-Mendez inside a residence in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court. <\/p>\n

Police said they responded to the residence on July 26 after an acquaintance of the suspect found Perez-Mendez dead in the suspect’s bedroom. <\/p>\n

According to police, the victim suffered injuries consistent with strangulation and detectives believe she was killed in the overnight hours on July 25-26. <\/p>\n

They have described him as a Hispanic man who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds with black hair. <\/p>\n
