\n\tUniversal\u2019s blockbuster event release \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>\u201d maintained its grip on the U.K. and Ireland box office, securing a second consecutive weekend at No. 1. <\/p>\n

\n\tChristopher Nolan\u2019s epic spectacle added \u00a311.8 million ($15.7 million) in its sophomore frame, representing a remarkably light holdover drop and elevating its local gross to \u00a335.3 million ($46.9 million) after 10 days of wide theatrical release.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney held onto the second-place position as Pixar\u2019s animated hit \u201cToy Story 5\u201d collected $2.5 million in its sixth weekend for a total of $65.2 million. Disney also captured third place with its live-action \u201cMoana,\u201d which added $1.8 million in its third frame, bringing its haul to $11.1 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal took fourth spot with its animated holdover \u201cMinions & Monsters,\u201d drawing $1.7 million in its fourth frame to lift its cume to $16.1 million. TGS Cinemas Limited captured fifth place with the high-profile launch of H. Vinoth\u2019s Indian political action drama \u201cJana Nayagan<\/a>,\u201d the swansong of star C. Joseph Vijay<\/a>. The wide specialized entry banked an opening frame of $596,324. The film, which was due to release in January, was held up at the Indian censors. In a dramatic turn of events in May, Vijay\u2019s political party won the Tamil Nadu elections and he assumed office as the state\u2019s Chief Minister. An uncut version of the film released in the U.K.<\/p>\n

\n\tBlack Bear\u2019s ensemble comedy-drama \u201cThe Invite\u201d moved to sixth place in its fourth frame, adding \u00a3$403,689 for a running total of $4 million. Universal\u2019s horror-romance entry \u201cObsession\u201d continued its remarkably resilient run in seventh place, taking $336,507 in its 11th week of release to drive its total to $25.3 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal\u2019s horror feature \u201cEvil Dead Burn\u201d was in eighth place in its third weekend, drawing $309,193 for a total of $2.8 million. Universal\u2019s sci-fi thriller \u201cDisclosure Day\u201d captured ninth spot in its seventh week, taking $103,957 to bring its running total to $17 million. Warner Bros.\u2019 superhero entry \u201cSupergirl\u201d completed the top 10 in its fifth frame, adding $83,229 for a cume of $7.6 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tLooking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, Trafalgar Releasing kicks off mid-week arrivals on July 28 with the music event presentation \u201cWham! 10 Days In China,\u201d followed on July 30 by Dreamz Entertainment launching the Indian drama \u201cSrinivasa Mangapuram.\u201d On July 31, Sony Pictures dominates the wide-circuit frame with the tentpole launch of Destin Daniel Cretton\u2019s superhero spectacle \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day\u201d into more than 300 locations. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe specialized, independent, and repertory slate for July 31 provides a diverse array of counter-programming. BFI Distribution introduces Imran Perretta\u2019s drama \u201cIsh,\u201d while Other Parties Film Company debuts Bill Gunn\u2019s classic drama \u201cPersonal Problems\u201d across more than 25 screens. Independent and international rollouts also include Ricardo Silva\u2019s drama \u201cMistura,\u201d Exposure\u2019s \u201cExposure,\u201d and Zee Studios International\u2019s \u201cKankaan De Ohle.\u201d <\/p>\n
