Open<\/p>\n<p>Osaka has retuned to the District to compete in the annual Mubadala <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/topic\/DC%20Open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">D.C. Open<\/a>. She is currently ranked No. 13 in the Women&#8217;s Tennis Association. <\/p>\n<p>SEE MORE | <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/sports\/content\/dc-open-gets-underway-at-the-rock-creek-park-tennis-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DC Open gets underway at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For me it  feels really good, just to be surrounded by so many amazing people and such an incredible vibe,&#8221; Osaka told 7News&#8217; Jade Lawson.<\/p>\n<p>Other major names include Maryland&#8217;s own <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/topic\/Francis%20Tiafoe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Francis Tiafoe<\/a>, Venus Williams and Ben Shelton. <\/p>\n<p>The tennis champion hosted a small &#8220;cookout&#8221; a get together on the Mubadala Open grounds. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It  was a lot of fun, I think maybe next year I won&#8217;t do it  so last minute,&#8221; Osaka joked. <\/p>\n<p>SEE ALSO | <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/sports\/content\/frances-tiafoe-falls-in-five-set-wimbledon-thriller-to-alexander-bublik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hyattsville native Frances Tiafoe falls in five-set Wimbledon thriller to Alexander Bublik<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old earned a bye in the first round along with 2019 Washington champion, Jessica Pegula along with Elina Svitolina Diana Shnaider &#8211; they are all expected to compete in the second round as early as Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Its only like my fourth time out here. I would say I&#8217;m a little bit of a rookie,&#8221; she smiled. <\/p>\n<p>The Mubadala D.C.
