\n\t\u201cThe Gilded Age\u201d star Ben Ahlers<\/a> and Wesley Taylor have wrapped production on \u2018Movin\u2019 On Up,\u2019 a workplace satire short film directed by Jacob Wahba .<\/p>\n

\n\tTaylor (\u201cOnly Murders In The Building,\u201d \u201cSmash,\u201d \u201cSpongebob Squarepants: The Musical\u201d) stars as a directionless white-collar worker who is catapulted up the corporate ladder. He lands in an \u201cMGM Musical Meets Silicon Valley world\u201d where employees dance through the halls and the company\u2019s actual purpose is a mystery.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe cast also features Ainsley Seiger (\u201cLaw and Order: Organized Crime\u201d), David Mattar Merten (\u201cEnemy of the People\u201d) and Denise Lute (\u201cThe Path,\u201d \u201cUp Here\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe aesthetics of the satiric short were \u201cinspired by the intricacy of 1950s MGM musicals\u2014films like \u2018Singin\u2019 in the Rain\u2019 and the work of Vincente Minnelli and Busby Berkeley,\u201d Jacob Wahba said Tuesday. The short film is Wahba\u2019s film directorial debut, following work across editorial campaigns, New York City theatrical productions and 20th Century television series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt captures a uniquely 2020s feeling that we all have inside of us \u2013 that feeling of \u2018I\u2019m not sure what I\u2019m doing, but if I don\u2019t do it fast I might die.\u2019 It\u2019s unsettling in real life, but hilarious on screen,\u201d writer Patrick Daly said.<\/p>\n

\n\tMax Johnson, Chlo\u00e9 Ryan and Wahba are producers, with executive producers Frankie Seratch and David Treatman, co-producers Maria Noto and Daly, and associate producers Katherine McGuire and Joseph Hayes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tPierre Marais\u00a0(\u201cAs Apple Pie,\u201d \u201cGhost Light), recently a leading man in Broadway\u2019s\u00a0\u201cSunset Boulevard,\u201d served as editor. Veteran studio gaffer\u00a0Jason Velez\u00a0(\u201cThe Meyerowitz Stories,\u201d\u00a0\u201cWhen They See Us\u201d) is director of photography, while costumes are by\u00a0Kala La Fortune Reed\u00a0(\u201cOnly Murders in the Building,\u201d\u00a0\u201cMusica\u201d), production design by\u00a0Lucas Degirolamo\u00a0(\u201cRun Amok,\u201d\u00a0\u201cThe Mill\u201d) and choreography by\u00a0Matthew Steffens\u00a0(\u201cOnce Upon a Mattress,\u201d\u00a0\u201cInto the Woods\u201d). Joseph Hayes\u00a0(\u201cThe Alto Knights,\u201d \u201cThe Bear,\u201d \u201cMasquerade\u201d) served as casting director. Composers are Natalia Karaseva and Christian McGhee and Zachary Schur\u00a0is music supervisor.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhlers is repped by Gersh and Artists First. Taylor is with Innovative and Anonymous. Seiger is repped by Gersh and Authentic. Merten is with Innovative and CLA Partners and Lute is repped by the Bloc Agency.<\/p>\n
