{"id":790396,"date":"2026-07-29T01:26:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T01:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/790396\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T01:26:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T01:26:11","slug":"atlantic-shark-institute-tags-first-hammerhead-shark-near-block-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/790396\/","title":{"rendered":"Atlantic Shark Institute tags first hammerhead shark near Block Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Atlantic Shark Institute announced it has successfully tagged its first hammerhead shark in waters near Block Island. <\/p>\n<p>Researchers will be able to collect data on migration patterns, habitat use and seasonal movements that support conservation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our warming waters, many of the shark species that New England residents associate with Florida and southern states are finding our water temperatures much more attractive than they would have just 25 years ago,\u201d shared Jon Dodd, Executive Director of the Atlantic Shark Institute. \u201cThe arrival of these sharks, and the tagging of our first hammerhead shark in our waters raises a lot of questions and we look forward to answering them with our partners and collaborators,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A hammerhead shark seen in the waters near Block Island.
